    I'm several months late (hope the meal went well). I would also plug shiraz, particularly Australian shiraz (I am a little bias). One of the general characteristics is a slight mintiness, and the wines themselves are usually big enough to deal with the additional flavours of the lamb steak. Either that or a blend of shiraz and grenache would work.
