Hardy's (Australian) box wines are pretty good considering ... they claim it's the same wine as in their bottled offerings...
The shiraz is decent ... $10-15 for a 3 Liter box ... pretty good deal ....
The French "Le Tresor" is decent too ( 5 Liters ) About $20-25
the rest are crap I think -

Tue, February 19, 2008 - 6:56 AMRe: Banrock Station Chardonnay. That was our "party wine" at a restaurant where I worked (if people were too cheap to spring for something off the list at their event) & it was so bad I couldn't even drink it for free! Seriously. Their cab is palatable, but RUN from the chard!

Re: box wines..
Mon, February 18, 2008 - 11:52 AMHey... everybody who appreciates the zen of boxed wines - look for :
"Pinot Evil " a pinot noir, French in origin but packaged in CA. somewhere ...
3 liters for $20 (here in PA. anyway ...probably much less everywhere else...)
Good for the money, I promise ... a nice bit of fruit and elegance ...

Re: box wines..
Sun, May 18, 2008 - 2:48 PMWe tried one from a company called Black Box. I think it was a merlot. It was a great wine for the money, but I've tried other brands and been disappointed.
I think the best use for the box wines is for camping trips. Less weight and space than bottles, no glass to break, no corkscrew needed and you can just keep pouring off of it for days without it getting vinegary. -
